Get the latest data and research from the Children’s Defense Fund. For over 40 years, CDF has been a leader in providing the latest national- and state-level data on children and policies.

In this section, you can find reports, fact sheets, and issue briefs created by our national and New York-state office. Some of our most notable publications include The State of America’s Children®, Portrait of Inequality, and Ending Child Poverty Now. Our factsheets and briefs span many areas: child poverty, income and wealth inequality, housing and homelessness, child hunger and nutrition, child health, early childhood, education, child welfare, juvenile justice, and gun violence.

The Children’s Defense Fund’s report, The State of America’s Children® 2017, provides a comprehensive look at the status of America’s children in 11 areas: child population, child poverty, income and wealth inequality, housing and homelessness, child hunger and nutrition, child health, early childhood, education, child welfare, juvenile justice and gun violence. The report’s corresponding state fact sheets provide one-page summaries of how children are doing in each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia and nationwide.
